How does Fixal 120mg Tablet work?

Fixal 120mg Tablet blocks the release of a chemical called histamine, which is responsible for causing inflammation and its associated symptoms such as itching, redness, swelling, and irritation.

Quick Suggestions:

• Avoid drinking fruit juices (such as apple or orange) as this may affect the absorption of this medicine and cause more side effects.
• It may cause nausea. Stick to simple meals, and do not eat rich or spicy food.
• Avoid using antacids 30 minutes before or after taking this medicine. It can make it harder for your body to absorb this medicine.
• Never give the medicine to someone who seems to be suffering from a similar illness. This medicine should be taken only if prescribed by a doctor.

Indication

Fixal 120mg Tablet is an anti-allergic medicine. It is used for the treatment and management of allergies. This tablet relieves watery eyes, runny or blocked nose, itching, sneezing, and swelling. It also helps relieve skin allergy symptoms (hives), such as skin rash, itching, and swelling.

Pharmacology

Fexofenadine Hydrochloride is an antihistamine that inhibits H1 receptors in the peripheral nervous system. It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration and reaches maximum plasma concentration in 2-3 hours. It does not appear to cross the blood-brain barrier.

Dosage & Administration of

Allergic Rhinitis During the Season-

Adults and children aged 12 and up:

• 60 mg twice daily, 120 mg once daily, 180 mg once daily
• In the event of impaired renal function, take 60 mg once daily.

Children aged 6 to 11 years old:

• 30 mg twice daily or 60 mg once daily in tablet form
• In the event of impaired renal function, take 30 mg once daily.

Children aged two to eleven years:

• 30 mg or 5 mL twice daily suspension
• If you have impaired renal function, take 30 mg or 5 ml once daily.

Idiopathic Chronic Urticaria-

Adults and children aged 12 and up:

• 60 mg twice daily, 120 mg once daily, 180 mg once daily
• In the event of impaired renal function, take 60 mg once daily.

Children aged 6 to 11 years old:

• 30 mg twice daily or 60 mg once daily in tablet form
• In the event of impaired renal function, take 30 mg once daily.

Children aged 6 months to under 2 years:

• 15 mg or 2.5 ml (1/2 tsp) suspension twice daily
• In the event of impaired renal function, take 15 mg or 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoon) once daily.

Children aged two to eleven years:

• 30 mg or 5 mL (1 tsp) twice daily suspension
• If you have impaired renal function, take 30 mg or 5 ml (1 tsp) once daily.

Take Fixal 120mg Tablet as advised by your physician. Swallow this medicine and do not crush or chew the medicine. The correct dose and duration will be decided by your doctor depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.

Interaction

Fexofenadine Hydrochloride plasma concentration increased when combined with erythromycin or ketoconazole. Antacids containing aluminum and magnesium hydroxide reduce fexofenadine hydrochloride absorption.

Contraindications

Patients with known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its components should not use it.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Fexofenadine Hydrochloride is classified as Category C by the US Food and Drug Administration. As a result, unless the potential advantages to the other outweigh the potential hazards to the fetus, Fexofenadine Hydrochloride should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings

• Do not take it with any fruit juices (such as apple, orange, or grapefruit) as they might make the drug less effective.

• Patients over the age of 65 and those with impaired renal function should be treated with caution.

Storage Conditions
